東京を含む首都圏地域は、直下地震の発生が危惧されています。
　東京消防庁では、都民のみなさまを震災から守るため、「自助」・「共助」・「公助」の理念を踏まえた基本的対策を推進しています。

  A major earthquake is expected to occur directly under the capital area anytime. The TFD promotes disaster preparedness based on the concept of self-help, community cooperation and government assistance.

　地震が発生した場合、身の安全を守ることを最優先とした行動を普及促進しています。

  We encourage residents to protect themselves first when an earthquake occurs.

　近年、国内で発生した大きな地震での負傷原因は、３〜５割の方々が家具類の転倒・落下・移動によるものでした。このため、都民自身ができる震災対策として、家具類の転倒・落下・移動防止対策の普及に努めています。

  In recent major earthquakes, 30 to 50 percent of all the injuries were caused by falling furniture. The TFD is encouraging residents to take measures to secure furniture from falling in case of earthquakes.

　町会・自治会、学校、事業所などが互いに協力し合い災害に強いまちづくりをするために、消防署では初期消火、救出救護、応急手当などの防災訓練を通じて指導し育成に努めています。

  Fire station personnel teach residents initial firefighting, rescue and first aid, so that residents can act on their own in case of disaster. Cooperation among neighborhood associations, schools and workplaces will contribute to creating a community resilient to disasters.
