火災による死者の８割は住宅火災から発生しており、そのうち亡くなった人の５割が「発見の遅れ」によるものです。東京都では火災予防条例により、住宅用火災警報器の設置が義務付けられています。
　大切な命を守るため、設置していない人は、火災の早期発見に大変有効な住宅用火災警報器を一日も早く設置してください。また、設置している人は、定期的に点検するなど維持管理に努めてください。なお、悪質販売には十分ご注意ください。

  Eighty percent of fire deaths occur at home. Of them 50 percent were killed because it was too late for them to escape. The Fire Prevention Ordinance of Tokyo states that all houses need home fire alarms, i.e., fire and smoke detectors. Be sure to have fire alarms in your home that help you detect fires sooner. Also, keep the alarms in proper conditions so that they will work without fail. When you buy one(s), be careful of dishonest dealers.

　当庁では、平成２３年４月１日から建物や店舗を立入検査した結果、繰り返し違反等の公表に該当した場合に、建物の名称や違反内容を当庁ホームページや消防署等の窓口で公表することとなりました。公表制度は、平成２１年１１月に発生した高円寺南雑居ビル火災の状況やその後に行った緊急一斉立入検査の結果、多くの雑居ビルで消防法令違反が繰り返され、防火意識が希薄であることが明らかになったことを踏まえ、都民のみなさまに建物を安心してご利用いただくため、また、地域コミュニティーと連携して地域全体の防火意識を高めるために創設されたものです。
　公表については、パソコンや携帯電話で消防法令違反の建物名称及び違反の内容などの情報を確認することができるほか、地図上で建物の安全に関する情報を確認でき、建物を安心して利用する時の目安となります。

The TFD's on-the-spot building safety inspections after the multi-occupancy building fire in Koenji in Novem ber 2010 revealed that m any buildings have repeatedly violated fire safety laws with less attention paid to life safety. For greater community fire safety, a list of the buildings very often subject to violation correction is shown on the TFD Ｗeb site that tells the visitors to those buildings and others what risks the buildings have and should correct as well as the buildings ' names. In addition to the maps showing building safety status, an electronically-assisted information system is for public use. Namely, detailed information, including the buildings ' names, can be read by PCs or cell phones for greater convenience.
