About the Rescue Techniques Training Course
Tokyo Fire Department
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government launched the project of Human Resources Development in Asia as part of the 10-Year Plan of Tokyo. In line with this, the TFD has conducted the Rescue Techniques Training Courses since 2008 as follows.
- Training in the TFD
The TFD accepts fire personnel of a member city of ANMC21 (Asia Network of Major Cities 21) as rescue trainees. They should be in a supervising position in their fire department, and are expected to instruct their rescue techniques to their firefighters upon completion of this course. The training program is tailored to the needs of participant cities, and is given by the members of the TFDfs Fire Rescue Task Forces as instructors.
- Training in the participant city
Following the training above, the members of the TFD are sent to the participant city to join the rescue training organized by the city. Working as technical advisors for ex-trainees, the TFDfs members assist ex-trainees to give training to local firefighters in accordance with the situation of the local area.
