Beware of Heatstroke!

From June onward, the weather becomes hotter and muggier between rainy days and the risk of heat stroke increases. The Tokyo Fire Department urges you to beware of heatstroke and to take precautionary measures.
, the Tokyo Fire Department rushed 2819 people to the hospital due to heatstroke (or suspicion of heatstroke).

Preventing Heatstroke

  • Let your body acclimate to the hot weather.
  • Avoid places with extreme temperatures and humidity, and direct sunlight.
  • Make use of air-conditioners and fans.
  • Hydrate yourself regularly and often.
  • Frequently take breaks when exercising.
  • Adopt healthy habits.
  • Do not leave your children in vehicles even for a short time.

First Aid for Heatstroke

  • Move the patient to a cool area and loosen their clothing.
  • Apply ice packs or ice to the patient's armpits and groin.
  • If the patient is able to drink, give them water containing some salt in small quantities.

Call An Ambulance Immediately If You Recognize These Symptoms:

  • Unconsciousness
  • Disorientation
  • Dizziness
  • Seizures
